Last night, was another good night for my son Dejuan. He didn't get but 12 points. He was upset that he missed some of his lay-ups. My husband told him to man up and that he had did a wonderful job and he want get all the shots but at least he tried. My husband said its just a game, enjoy and have fun. Dejuan said Pop if you had never played you don't know. It's more than just a game. I looked and laughed and my son had gotten upset with us. It was funny to me
Well to us parents it may be a funny thing, but to our kids it is a big thing. It may be that he feels he gains respect from his peers through his achievements. Maybe not making all the points he wanted to make causes him to feel bad about himself. Often I wonder if it was a good idea not to put my kids in sports because I know it will affect them not only physically, but also emotionally and mentally, and even spiritually. I don't want to be rude or anything, but maybe if us as parents would just look at it like this: Sports to our kids is like a degree to us, it makes us who we are. May God give all of us parents just the right words to say and just the right moves to make to help our children flourish in an abundance of all things good. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
